Christmas Nails – China Glaze Party Hearty with Peace on Earth

China Glaze Party Hearty

There have been so many great holiday nail polishes released this year, but it’s finally time to choose just one to wear on Christmas!  Or, two-because China Glaze Party Hearty is so sheer and good for layering.  Party Hearty seems like the standout for me, just because it’s so recognizably a Christmas nail polish, and so festive and glittery.  I’m going with Party Hearty layered over Peace on Earth for my Christmas nails.

Snowy Day Manicure: Avon Vintage Blue and Color Club Snowflake

Color Club Enchanted Holiday minis
Color Club Enchanted Holiday minis

It snowed in Kentucky last weekend, so I decided to try out Color Club Snowflake from the Enchanted Holiday mini set.  I bought this set only because of Magic Elf, which is a bright, goldish green color that seemed unique among all of the holiday greens.  But I also really like Snowflake, a sheer white with lots of blue and holographic glitter pieces.  Over a light blue, it looks cold and wintery.

Chanel Black Pearl from the Chanel Spring 2011 Collection Les Perles de Chanel – Swatch and Review

Chanel Black Pearl

I was so excited to receive my package of the three Les Perles de Chanel nail polishes , Black Pearl, Pearl Drop and Peche Nacree.   These polishes are part of Chanel’s Spring 2011 collection, and they are already available on the Chanel website.  The color that has garnered the most interest is Black Pearl–it was featured on the Chanel runway, and it’s a dark charcoal grey with a pearly green shimmer.  It’s not a typical spring color, which I think makes it even more interesting.  Keep reading for swatches and comparisons!

Holiday 2010 Golds/Metallics – Dior Timeless Gold, China Glaze Midnight Kiss Swatch and Review

Dior Timeless Gold - Bottle
Dior Timeless Gold

I recently picked up Dior Timeless Gold in an order from Sephora, where it’s called Gold Revolution.  When you actually get it unpacked, though, the box says Timeless Gold, just like everywhere else.  It’s a beautiful metallic silverish gold, with heavy grey undertones.  I decided to see how it compares to some other recent foil-y metallics.

Barielle Holiday Hustle Collection 2010 Swatches – Snow Day and Gelt Me to the Party

Barielle Holiday Hustle Collection 2010
Barielle Holiday Hustle Collection 2010

I stopped by Ulta a couple of weeks ago and picked up two polishes from the Barielle Holiday Hustle Collection.  I wasn’t really planning to look for these, but I don’t get to Ulta very often, and when I saw the display they looked so pretty and shimmery that I wanted to try them.  Keep reading for swatches and a review!

Essie Winter 2010 Swatches – Going Incognito, Smokin’ Hot and Hot Coco

Essie Going Incognito

I’ve really liked the colors that I tried from the Essie Winter 2010 collection so far.  They’re dark but still vivid, and perfect for this time of the year.  I have swatches of Going Incognito, Smokin’ Hot and Hot Coco below, but I’m sort of thinking of picking up Masquerade Belle as well!

Chanel Paradoxal and Revlon Perplex – Swatch and Comparison

Chanel Paradoxal and Revlon Perplex
Chanel Paradoxal and Revlon Perplex

Chanel Paradoxal has been a very popular color this fall–it’s a murky, taupish grey with purple shimmer-and now Revlon has joined the ranks of Chanel dupe-producers.  They’ve just come out with Revlon Perplex, which is clearly meant to be a lower-cost version of Paradoxal.  Paradoxal costs $23 and is still available on Chanel.com, but Revlon’s Perplex is $4.50 and available at drugstores and Ulta.  How do they compare?  Keep reading to find out!

Holiday Reds and Sparkles-Chanel Illusion D’or Swatch

CND Bloodline w/ Chanel Illusion D'or
CND Bloodline w/ Chanel Illusion D'or

Lately I’ve been wearing a lot more red nail polish than usual-something about all of the great holiday collections that are out right now has me wanting to try out dark, rich reds.  I’ve always felt like red nail polish was too bright for me, but now that I’ve been trying out some darker red colors I’m feeling more comfortable with it.  I’m also really liking it layered with glitter for the holidays.  Today I’m going to show you some darker reds that I’ve tried, and some sparkling topcoat options that I’ve used for layering.

China Glaze Holiday 2010 – Party Hearty and Something Sweet

China Glaze Party Hearty

As soon as I saw pictures of Party Hearty from the China Glaze Holiday 2010 collection, I started plotting what I wanted to layer it over.  It’s a very dense glitter, with large red hexagonal glitter, medium green glitter and small silver glitter.  I went on a search for the perfect, candy-ish pink to use as a base, so that all of the glitter would pop.  I wanted something pastel, but not too soft, something that had a bit of artificial-food-coloring starkness.

China Glaze Holiday 2010 – Mistletoe Kisses and Peace on Earth

China Glaze Peace on Earth with Chanel Illusion D'or

Today I’m going to show two polishes from the China Glaze Holiday 2010 collection, ‘Tis the Season to be Naughty and Nice.  It’s  a big collection, with sixteen shades, and I’ve found that I keep deciding I need more of them!  I just ordered the foil-y metallics and I’m looking forward to trying those.  But the first colors that I loved and ordered from the collection were the greens, so as soon as Thanksgiving was over I broke them out.

Chanel Riva from the Collection Côte D’Azur – Swatch and Review

Chanel Riva with CND Ice Blue Shimmer
Chanel Riva with CND Ice Blue Shimmer

This pretty blue shade is from Chanel’s Côte D’Azur Collection.  It was first shown on the runway in St. Tropez in May, and immediately created a lot of interest and buzz.  Although it was rumored to only be available in December, when I checked the Chanel website last week it was already up, and I quickly ordered my two bottles.  It’s still available now on the Chanel website.  The website also seems to actually be working, unlike when the Khakis appeared, and there was so much traffic that the website crashed.

There have already been a lot of reviews posted, and many of them have been very critical, complaining about the formula and the fact that the shimmer from the bottle is not as noticeable on the nail.  I really like it though–I think it’s a lot more wearable than most light/pastel blues, since it’s a bit sheer and doesn’t seem stark or too white.
