China Glaze Holiday 2010 – Mistletoe Kisses and Peace on Earth

Today I’m going to show two polishes from the China Glaze Holiday 2010 collection, ‘Tis the Season to be Naughty and Nice.  It’s  a big collection, with sixteen shades, and I’ve found that I keep deciding I need more of them!  I just ordered the foil-y metallics and I’m looking forward to trying those.  But the first colors that I loved and ordered from the collection were the greens, so as soon as Thanksgiving was over I broke them out.

I think my favorite from the collection might be Peace on Earth-it’s a golden olive green color, with beautiful rich shimmer.  It’s well-pigmented and I only needed two coats.  I also added a layer of Chanel Illusion D’or to give it even more sparkle.  My picture below is a bit more golden and less green than it appears in person, which is probably also accentuated by the gold sparkle on top:

I also tried Mistletoe Kisses, a sheer green base with silvery green glitter.  Many people have shown it as three coats, which is pretty but builds to be darker than you might think from the bottle.  So I tried layering two coats of Mistletoe Kisses over one coat of Essie Mint Candy Apple from the Winter 2009 collection, a bright blue-ish minty green.  It does give a slightly softer, brighter look but Mistletoe Kisses is fairly opaque, so the Essie doesn’t show through as much as I was hoping.  I think next time I’ll try it layered over a white.
