I have another layering experiment with OPI’s The Living Daylights to share – I like this one best! I thought that a lighter color would help show off all of the interesting colors in this topcoat.
So I pulled out Dior’s Glacier, an Asian exclusive from this spring. Glacier is a beautiful light blue/grey that is shimmery and subtle. I like it better each time I wear it. My review of Dior Glacier from this spring is here.
I used three coats of Glacier since it’s kind of sheer, which helps the shimmer show even better. Then, I dabbed on OPI’s The Living Daylights at the ends of my nails, with just one pass. I really like the contrast of each of the glitter colors against the light blue – I think the glitters of The Living Daylights tend cool, so the light blue of Glacier coordinates although it’s lighter than each of the glitter colors. The coppery glitter provided just enough true contrast. I used another coat of topcoat over this, so that the end result was smooth.
I got compliments on this combination from several people including my father (!), so I think it was successful. I liked the way the glitter sparkled just at the ends but the pretty shimmer of Glacier was still visible. It seemed kind of wintery and I think it would be nice for New Year’s Eve.
OPI’s The Living Daylights is from the new James Bond-themed Skyfall Collection and should be available now where OPI is sold.
I agree this combination looks the best of all your posts. I too have the Living Daylights and have been unable to come up with a base color I’m happy with for the glitter. I’ll have to hunt through my stash for a similar color to Glacier. Thanks for trying all these colors out!
You’re welcome! I’m glad that the pictures were helpful; it’s nice to be able to share information.
