Dior Summer Mix Collection – Acapulco

There have been promo pictures of Dior’s new Summer Mix Collection around for a while, but the polishes are proving to be oddly elusive.  There are supposed to be four new polishes in a glossy/jelly formula, but so far I’ve only tracked down two.

Acapulco, a bright warm yellow, and Lagoon, a medium deep tealish blue, are on the Bloomingdales website already.  But there are also two other polishes in the collection that don’t seem to be available online anywhere.  Some people have reported finding the collection at Macy’s, which is kind of weird for a Dior collection, but it’s definitely not yet on the Macy’s website.

So anyway, today I have pictures of Acapulco.  It’s a really vibrant and true yellow, unlike the other few yellow polishes I already have.  The formula was not a problem for me – it’s a little thick, and I did use three coats to get it to be as opaque as possible, but I thought it was fairly easy to work with and not streaky.  I like that it’s not overly sheer, and although I could still see a little bit of VNL, it was pretty faint.  I’m thinking that would be even less of an issue if I used the Diorlisse basecoat, which is slightly pink-tinted, underneath.  The color is so bright and cheery, I think it’s pretty and flattering.  It’s not a color that can go to work, but it’s nice for summer.

I think it’s a more wearable yellow than Deborah Lippmann’s Yellow Brick Road, which is also a yellow jelly but is a lot more sheer and gives a slightly sickly or washed-out yellow look.  Acapulco is more wholesome and truly yellow looking, like bright, yellow-dye candy.  So far Acapulco is available at Bloomingdales, but hopefully the whole collection will pop up somewhere soon.

  1. I ordered the whole collection from a Macy’s at Orlando’s Millenia mall. I got tired waiting on Dior’s site to stock them and finally emailed for more information. They replied that it was available at Macy’s…I heard from the Las Vegas Dior boutique that it was going to be a Nordstrom exclusive. I called 3-4 Nordstrom Dior counters and they had no idea what I was talking about.

    1. Thanks for the comment and the info! I had read online that they would be at Macy’s, but I hate to have to schlep to a store, and they aren’t on the Macy’s website. I did find the other two polishes at my local Macy’s today.
