Dior Waterlily vs. Essie Navigate Her

Someone requested a comparison of two new greens for Spring 2012: Dior’s Waterlily and Essie’s Navigate Her.  They’re pretty different, as you can see in the pictures…

Greens have popped up quite a bit over the last few years – it seems like almost every collection has had at least one.  There were a lot of light murky greens last spring and summer – OPI’s Stranger Tides and Essie’s Da Bush, to name a few.  Those greens from last year are a bit more grey than these two, though.

In the picture below, Waterlily is on my index and middle fingers and Navigate Her is on my ring and pinky fingers.  Waterlily has more blue and is shimmery and minty.  Many people say that it’s very similar to Chanel’s Jade.  Navigate Her has more yellow and is a bit like a vegetable.  It’s a creme with no shimmer at all.

The formula on Waterlily is great; it goes on smoothly and although it’s shimmery it has no streaks.  Navigate Her takes three coats to even out but the formula isn’t bad.

I think Waterlily is really a standout color and perfect for those of us who missed out on Jade.  Navigate Her is closer to some of the other murky greens out there, although it’s a bit brighter and still interesting.  Both are available now.
