As another installment of the Essie Spring Collection, I have some swatches of Topless and Barefoot. I had held strong but came across this unexpectedly in a CVS, and decided to pick it up. I love those little labels on the top of the cap of the retail Essies! This one is not part of the normal retail display (which only holds four of the spring colors), you have to find it in its retail packaging on a sort of small, countertop display that fits onto those shelves that drugstores have towards the front of their makeup sections. So I rationalized by telling myself that I would likely not find it again-I had to buy it!
I’m happy that I bought it. It’s a nice formula, like the other spring colors, and I used three coats but they went on very quickly. This color is a peachy-nude, but it’s much less orange than CND’s peach-nude color for spring 2011 (which reminded me of Barbie fingers on my nails). I thought this color was very flattering, still muted but more springy and bright than the other nude in Essie’s spring collection, Sand Tropez. I still really like Sand Tropez, and if I could only have one of the two I would pick Sand Tropez. But Topless and Barefoot is different enough that it’s worth having both.
Then I, of course, tried it with two coats of Kisses and Bises. There’s something about this topcoat that reminds me of vacations–it catches the light and flashes a pink color even in office lighting, so it seems kind of sun-kissed and sparkly. It reminds me of being outside even when I’m not outside. Really pretty!
Hello~ I like this color:D
But it’s a hard decision for me to decide to buy Topless n Barefoot or Steady As She Rose…
Could you please give me some opinion? Which one you recommand?
What’s the difference on colors of these two?
THX a lot 🙂
Hi! Thanks for your comment. I really like Topless and Barefoot, too. It’s a greyish peach, while Steady As She Rose is more like a greyish purple. But they both have a lot of pink as well, so they are a bit similar on the nail. I think Topless and Barefoot is the less trendy color of the two, and will prove more timeless. It’s lovely and sophistocated. But, they’re both really pretty. I was already wearing Topless and Barefoot, so I compared it to Steady As She Rose and I’ll post the comparison soon!
Thanks for your reply!
I really look forward to the comparison. 🙂
I bought this nail polish and it is clumpy and streaky. Did I get a bad bottle? Your nails look beautiful and smooth. What’s your secret?
