OPI Nice Stems – Play the Peonies and I Lily Love You

Today I have a couple of polishes from OPI’s flowery, pink-themed summer collection, Nice Stems.  I had my eye on the sparkly topcoat I Lily Love You for a while, but it took a long time for this collection to pop up around here.  I finally have swatches!

The Nice Stems Collection is made up of four polishes, all pink.  They’re all pretty but it’s getting so late in the season that I decided I didn’t need more fuschias or corals, so I only picked up two from this collection.

Play the Peonies is the lightest possible pink, almost white in certain lights.  It has a very shimmery finish that makes it look delicate and pearly, not as stark as it would otherwise be.  The formula on this color was really nice, and it took only two coats to be nicely opaque.  The OPI brush is wide and squared, and not really my favorite to work with, but this polish applied very well regardless.  I like how warm and soft it looks, even though it’s such a light color.

I like Play the Peonies by itself, but it’s even nicer with I Lily Love you layered over the top.  I Lily Love You is a sheer pink base with lots of glitter-what’s really special about it are the big, jagged flakes of iridescent glitter.  They’re really fun – they flash blue, purple, and even orange.  There’s also a lot of smaller glitter pieces, too, of the same type of flashy iridescent color.  The big glitter chunks are stiffer than “flaky” glitters, and don’t drip around and flop down over your nail when they’re painted on like those do-they maintain a sharp, jagged look.  These pictures show two coats of I Lily Love You over Play the Peonies.  The base color of I Lily Love You is bright enough to change the color of Play the Peonies, giving it a translucent pink shine.  I Lily Love You is a little thick but not nearly as goopy as the OPI Katy Perry glitters, so it’s easy to get the glitter pieces out of the bottle and onto the nail.  The wide OPI brush actually comes in handy with that task, as well.  This glitter is just so sparkly and pretty in the sun-I really enjoyed this combination.

I Lily Love You is a must-have-I don’t have any other glitters with such large chunky pieces, or over the top sparkle.  It’s definitely worth tracking down if you’re at all a fan of glitter (or pink!)
