The Iconic/Ironic Spring 2011 Collection by Rescue Beauty Lounge is available now. RBL’s formula is so nice, and the polishes often sell very quickly. I like that this collection has some very wearable, kind of neutral shades that are still soft and suitable for this time of the year. Swatches of Decorous and Insouciant coming up!
I have swatches of Decorous and Insouciant first because those are the two out of the collection that I can safely wear to work. There are two other polishes in the collection that are very dark. Just the name of Iconoclast should tell you something about how office appropriate it would be! It’s a black shimmer, and will be going nowhere near my office.
So first, Decorous. The formula on this color was really nice and I only had to use two coats. In the bottle it looks like it has a lot of yellowy-tan in it, but it definitely dries darker on the nail. I was a bit disappointed in this one, since it came out looking more grey-brown on me than I thought it would from other swatches. It kind of reminded me of other browns, like China Glaze Ingrid and even Chanel’s Khaki Brun. It doesn’t have the milky lightness I was looking forward to from other pictures, and I don’t really need more medium browns in my collection.
Insouciant is a grey-purple color. In the bottle you can see a pretty blue shimmer but I couldn’t see the shimmer once it was on my nails. I only used two coats of this one as well, but I think it could have used a third coat since I could still see a bit of visible nail once my hands were out and about in daytime lighting. I really like this color, it can look either very grey or very purple depending on the lighting, and it also gives a slight mauvy feeling in certain lights. I’m posting three pictures just to show how different it can look in different light.
We’ve had cloudy days lately, and the next few pictures show much more of the purple. It looks so different in this lighting, which makes it more fun to wear, and see the different tones. Inside. While you’re trying to do work stuff.
I think this might be my favorite picture of all, it looks so purple! It’s fun to be able to catch different colors throughout the day.
