I have never before bought an entire collection of nail polish, but Zoya’s Spring 2011 collection was so pretty, and full of colors that I knew I would wear, that I got the whole six bottle set. If you buy the whole set of a Zoya collection there’s a small discount, so it’s even easier to justify. Keep reading for the first set of swatches. (Ed: I’ve posted Part 2 now. Click through to read about the rest of the collection!)Dove is a light grey creme, with no shimmer at all. It’s pretty and looks slightly more green on the nail than I thought it would from the bottle. It was a little thick, but went on fairly well for such a light color. This is two coats:
Next is Marley. It’s a pinkish, light lavender with a lot of white shimmer. This one also seemed a little bit thick to me, and I needed three coats to even everything up. But it’s a really pretty color, very quiet and elegant for a pastel purple. It will make a nice office color, since it’s sort of a grown-up pastel.
Finally, I have a swatch of Caitlin. This is my favorite color out of the collection. It’s a medium, bluish grey with a bit of purple to it. It looks springy and totally different from all of the greys from fall and winter. Caitlin is a little bit bluer and vibrant in some lights than the picture below, but it’s still soft and makes me think of puffy clouds in the sky and spring flowers. And, it’s still very wearable and even work appropriate. I also like that it’s sort of an evolution of Zoya’s Kelly, a dark slightly purple-y grey from Fall 2010. Zoya definitely knows how to do grey!
