China Glaze’s Island Escape Collection has been out for a while now. It’s a set of vibrant, sparkly colors but they weren’t really calling to me–except for the funny, yellowy green, Cha Cha Cha.
Here’s an older Essie that I picked up during one of my stops at J. Crew to check on their small polish section. It fits right in with this summer’s focus on bright orange polishes.
These two polishes from OPI’s Glam Slam collection have been out for a bit now, but they’re so pretty that they definitely deserve a look if you haven’t checked them out yet. Swatches coming up!
Splash of Grenadine is another polish from Essie’s 2010 Resort Collection that made its way onto the retail side and is now available at WalGreens, etc. It’s another vibrant but delicate color that is perfect for summer!
Continuing with my recent love of Essie, I suddenly decided that I needed Lapis of Luxury, which is from Essie’s 2010 Resort Collection. Since I prefer the retail Essie packaging if a color is sold on the retail side, I went to many WalGreens before finally bringing it home.
I’m not normally a fan of MAC polishes-I’ve only bought them once before and was way underwhelmed by the formula AND the price point. But since finding the perfect nude nail polish shade is still a personal quest, I felt like I had to try Hangin’ Loose from the new Surf, Baby! Collection.
The Fingerpaints Summer Collection has been out for a few weeks now, and I’ve ended up with three out of the six-I initially narrowed my choices down to two polishes, but I had to go back for one more after seeing other swatches!
Essie’s 2011 Resort Collection is available now at salons, although it doesn’t seem to be sold through the retail channels (like WalGreens or WalMart) at this point. It’s an earthy, soft collection of four shades-swatches coming up!
Today I have swatches of the other half of Essie’s Summer 2011 collection. I didn’t originally intend to pick these up, but the first half of the collection was so nice that I decided to give the others a chance as well. All three of these colors are bright and summery-hot.
Here’s a polish from Essie’s Wedding Collection-Borrowed & Blue. These have been around but don’t seem to have been distributed as widely as other Essie collections-I’ve come across a few mostly empty displays lately, and they never showed up at a few of the places I see Essies. They also were never sold through the retail side, as far as I know.
OPI Steady As She Rose, Essie Topless and Barefoot
I’m just posting a quick post tonight in response to a request for a comparison. Someone was wondering how close Essie Topless and Barefoot and OPI Steady As She Rose are, and after I thought about it a bit, I was kind of wondering too!
Last weekend I finally was able to break out my bottle of Mimosa, and there was actually some sun! Mimosa is the highly anticipated yellow from Chanel’s Summer 2011 collection, Collection Les Fleurs d’Ete de Chanel. I also have swatches of the fleshy nude, Beige Petale.
Today I have swatches of Dior’s new summer polishes. These are part of the Electric Tropics Collection, and there’s a very bright orange and a very bright pink. What really made these have-to-buys for me is the bottle-it’s tinted orange or pink depending on the color, and the packaging is sort of ravishing.
I finally have my Silver Shatter, but it’s not been easy. I had been looking for Silver Shatter for several weeks, and I finally ordered a bottle from eBay. But when I opened the package and tried to pull my bottle out by the cap, just the cap part popped off and came out by itself! Which was a bad sign. When I got more of the wrapping off, the whole bottle basically fell apart in my hands; it was totally cracked. That’s the first time I’ve ever had a broken bottle, and it was pretty sad (and messy). So I stopped by Ulta last weekend even though I had called and been told there was no Silver Shatter (I’m persistent like that), and was pleasantly surprised to find several huge displays of it!
Essie’s Summer 2011 Collection still says “available soon” on the Essie website, but I found that it’s already displayed at WalGreen’s. It was on a little cardboard display near the front of the store, not the main Essie display. There were only two bottles of each color, and I had to visit two different stores to find all three of the colors that I wanted-the coral-red Too Too Hot was already gone from the store closest to me. Swatches coming up!
CND has a new collection that was just recently released-a set of four polishes and one topcoat that is a collaboration with Jason Wu. This set of polishes was gifted to attendees of Jason Wu’s Spring 2011 runway show back in September of 2010, and when pictures came out I fell in love with the dark red color, Veronica. I decided to keep all of the swatches of this collection together for references purposes, so this is going to be a huge post!
