Dior has a collection of three bright polishes for their Cruise 2013 line – even for those of us who are not taking a cruise this winter, it’s fun to have these polishes pop up in the middle of the darkening, colder days of the end of the year.
My favorite of the three is Lime, a bright green with lots of yellow in it. The formula is okay, although it did take three coats to be smooth and even out a little bit of streaking with the first coat. After three coats it had a beautiful shine and a really nice, pure green brightness. It’s different than any other greens that I have, bright but not neon. It somehow manages to be pretty even though it’s such a funny green.
The second color is Mango, a bright yellow-y orange. The Dior website describes it as a radiant yellow, but I can’t call this color yellow. It’s pretty, though, and the formula is pretty good for a color this light. It’s also not neon but is somehow bright as though it has a lot of white. It was the streakiest of the three colors, but it did cover well enough by the third coat that it wasn’t a problem. I liked how it was lively but kind of grown-up at the same time.
The last of the three polishes is Pasteque, a bright pink. Pasteque means watermelon in French (and the receipt for my order actually listed it as ‘Watermelon’, which I thought was kind of fun). This one had the best formula out of the three and only took two coats to be opaque, but unfortunately it’s the least unique and interesting of the colors. It’s still nice but not that different from some other bright pinks even just within the Dior line. It’s more orange than Plaza and Pink Grafitti, but doesn’t wear that differently. To be clear, I still really like it. But it’s not a must-have unless you’re a Dior collector.
I really like all three of these colors, and I think they’re even better because of their slight un-seasonality. They come at a time when everything else is dark reds and blacks, so they stand out and seem to express pure fun. Lime is a great, unique green that is really fun and feels like tropical drinks. Mango is also fun and even Pasteque is a nice color although it’s probably most easily satisfied by recourse to other pinks.
For now these colors are only available on Dior.com.
I love all of them!
But Lime is sooooo awesome!
Lime is the greatest 🙂
