This polish was Chanel’s Holiday 2010 offering – it’s a very bright, almost purple-leaning pink. I picked it up from Nordstrom’s not that long ago when I was longing for bright, summery colors.
Last winter I just couldn’t focus on this color-I was too busy putting China Glaze’s Party Hearty over everything, and it seemed like a funny color to buy at Christmas time. But when I saw that it was still available this spring, I suddenly felt like it made sense. It’s brighter than it looks in my pictures, so it’s perfect for summer, almost a screaming pink.
Pulsion applied well and took only two coats to be opaque, like a typical Chanel creme. It has a raspberry toned, deeper pink color than most other brights we’re seeing now. Most of the brights from this summer are very orangey or coral, or at least a brighter pink. So Pulsion seems darker and a bit exotic to me in comparison. It also kind of reminds me of a Kool-Aid color-it has that oddly saturated, artificial fruit look.
This is the first time I’ve managed to post a pink polish for the blogger On Wednesdays We Wear Pink thing. Success! I like pinks but I hadn’t been able to get my pink posts to sync to a Wednesday before. I think this is kind of a nice pink to start things off. It’s certainly emphatic.
Pulsion is still up on the Nordstrom’s website, so if you’re suddenly having a change of heart you could still snag it, especially with the Anniversary Sale coming up. It’s been gone from the Chanel website for a while now.
