Trendsetter is my one pick from China Glaze’s Metro Collection for Fall 2011.  This is the only one that called to me – it’s a murky, mustardy yellow-green color, with gold shimmer.

For some reason, in the picture below my middle finger turned out really red.  I feel a little concerned when I look at this, because I’m not sure what was going on.  It looks kind of angry, although I think the finger is okay, I haven’t noticed any problems except for this picture.  Trendsetter looks like a slightly darker version of China Glaze’s Classic Camel in the bottle, mostly  yellowish tan.  When I painted it on, I was surprised by how green it dries.  It’s enough greener on me that I think it’s too weird to wear to work.

The formula was okay and it took three coats to be opaque.  I like the shimmer in this polish, because it’s fine but still pretty noticeable on the nail.  It has a slight blushy look, like it might be a coppery gold.

Since Trendsetter already dried so green, I decided to up the weird olive green-ness by adding one coat of China Glaze’s Zombie Zest, from last Halloween.  Zombie Zest is a darker murky green with bright green sparkles.  It’s a bit sheer by itself, so I liked the way Trendsetter helped it be more opaque and still keep its color.  To make this more about Zombie Zest, I would probably do just two coats of Trendsetter and then two to three coats of Zombie Zest next time.

China Glaze’s Metro Collection is in stores now, and should be easy to find.
