With all the interest in dark blue polishes lately, I pulled out an older OPI polish that has been mentioned as being very close to Dior’s new Tuxedo. OPI’s Yoga-ta Get This Blue is also a dark blue with lighter blue shimmer-keep reading for a Tuxedo vs. Yoga-ta Get This Blue comparison.
Yoga-ta Get This Blue is from OPI’s India Collection from Spring 2008. It did come after OPI’s switch to the 3-free formula, but fairly soon after. It’s a nice, dark blue with bright blue shimmer that really pops in the light. The formula on this was opaque in two coats and went on well. It reminds me of sapphires.

Even in the shade picture, this polish keeps its blue tone and the shimmer gives a lighter hint of royal blue.

Next I compared it to Dior’s Tuxedo, from the Fall 2011 Collection. In the pictures below Tuxedo is on my index and middle fingers and Yoga-ta Get This Blue is on my ring and pinky fingers. These two polishes are pretty different when they’re placed right next to each other – Tuxedo is a deep blue with a blackish tone and looks slightly purple on the nail. The base of Yoga-ta Get This Blue has a more classic blue look and its shimmer is lighter and brighter blue, which also lightens the color. I much prefer Tuxedo out of these two; it’s more sophisticated and mysterious-looking, and to me Yoga-ta Get This Blue seems somehow predictable or too flashy next to Tuxedo. I like that Tuxedo is velvety and rich, but not overly sparkly, and the royal blue leanings of Yoga-ta Get This Blue are just not doing it for me.

Tuxedo is now up on the Dior website, and is still available at Nordstrom’s at this point.
I just discovered your site, and I love it so much! The side by side comparisons are invaluable. I absolutely love Tuxedo and can’t wait to get my hands on it. The little bit of purple makes it seem “acceptable” for my…uh…advanced age. Your nails are beautiful and very similar to how I keep mine.
Thanks so much for your comment! I agree that Tuxedo just seems somehow more grown-up, in a good way-it’s nice and understated, and doesn’t scream blue.
