Zoya Neeka Swatch

Zoya’s Neeka came out with the Fall 2011 Collection, Smoke & Mirrors.  I think this was a ‘Smoke’ one, since it’s not glittery.  I know it’s been out for a while, but this is the only one that I felt intrigued by, so I recently picked it up – it’s a dark, slightly greyish purple with interesting shimmer pieces.

The formula on Neeka was just like most Zoyas – a little thin but nice and easy to apply.  I used three coats for the swatches here.  Neeka is full of gold shimmery pieces, but the dark base does cover up some of the sparkle.  I like the effect it gives, with the shimmer sort of peeking out, and suddenly shining out more when the light hits it.  I didn’t realize it from other swatches, but Neeka also has a very fine pink shimmer mixed in, which I really like.  You can see it in the bottle, and on the nail in sun.  It was hard to capture, but you can see just a little bit of a pink hint in the picture below.  It’s nice and makes the color a little more glowy and complex.  Overall this is more clearly in the purple category than the many grey-purple-browns that came out last year, like Chanel’s Paradoxal.

The shade picture shows the shimmer pieces, and also the very purple color of the base.

I like this color for fall and winter, and I don’t have anything else like it.  I like that it’s definitely purple but muted enough to be wearable, I think even to my fairly conservative office, and the shimmer makes it more complex.  I’ve seen this collection out at Ulta and salons, and it’s also available on the Zoya website.
