The second polish from Dior’s Les Violets Collection that I have to show is Orchid. It’s a dark, reddish purple creme, perfect for colder weather. I tried it layered with a glitter from OPI’s Holiday Collection from 2011.
I first showed Shadow from the Les Violets Collection, and next I broke out Orchid. It did take three coats to be opaque, and the first was a bit streaky. I think it’s because it has an ever so slightly translucent finish, so it takes a bit more polish to even out. Also, I recently found Divine Swine (ich, such bad names!) from OPI’s Muppets Collection at Target, and it didn’t even have the serial number filed off. So I bought it, and then realized that it was the last glitter from Muppets I didn’t have – I now have all the glitters. Yay!
I dabbed the Divine Swine glitter just at the ends of my nails. i did have some serious bubbling problems with this manicure, I think because my Dior top coat is on its way out, very low in the bottle and full of polish remnants. I waffled and then decided to show these pictures anyway because I really did like this combination. Divine Swine has purple-pink small glitter and silver hexagonal glitter. The purple glitter was very close in tone to Orchid, but the silver glitter made up for it and provided a pretty, starry sparkle. This combination was even better in dark light.
This picture shows the nice contrast and the studded look of the silver glitters.
Orchid is still available on Nordstrom’s and the Dior website at this point. It’s a pretty reddish purple that feels like late fall and seems cozy.
