I picked up a bottle of I Juggle…Men from OPI’s Femme de Cirque collection, since it’s so pretty in the bottle. And I’m a sucker for the ellipsis in the name (I know it’s silly). It’s a very sheer sparkle topcoat, that flashes blue, purple and pink in the bottle, so I was curious to see it over other polishes.
In the bottle it reminds me of CND’s Sparkle Effects. It has kind of flaky looking glitter pieces. I have to admit that this one disappointed me once on the nail, especially compared to the Sparkle Effects. Even with two coats there’s a lot less sparkle pieces than you get with one coat of the Sparkle Effects. The slight duo-tone look in the bottle doesn’t translate, either, so I saw mostly a slightly blue flash. This topcoat just gives a subtle effect and a bit of shimmer. Maybe it would be better over a really dark polish? But I’m not wearing those in April, and I’m not sure I’m going to dig this one back up come November. Below are pictures of two coats over Zoya’s Caitlin. I really like Caitlin! I always reach for that one first when I’m trying out a new topcoat. But as you can see, I Juggle…Men just doesn’t do that much here. It’s a little bit of shimmer, but not much else.

So I thought maybe I should try a polish that would provide more of a contrast-I thought slightly orangeish beige might make the blue and purple show up better. I picked Deborah Lippmann’s Naked, such a pretty skintone polish that I’ve been really happy with this spring. This combination was no better. I Juggle…Men even seemed to lose some of its color here. It almost just seemed like a silvery flash. I liked Naked better before the additional sparkles but soldiered on and wore it for a couple of days so I could take pictures.

Ok. When I saw this in the store, with its kind of cute name and that ellipsis, and its purple flash, I thought it might be fun. But now I’m on guard. I won’t be tricked by a cute ellipsis again-I’m going going to stick to CND when I want a heavy, flaky sparkle topcoat and do major research before picking up an OPI. Not that this will stop me from buying the whole OPI Pirates of the Caribbean Collection or anything… .
