Here’s the second installment of swatches of Rescue Beauty Lounge’s Pre-Fall Firebird Collection. The collection was inspired by a hurricane, and it’s been rainy around here ever since I received these polishes! Keep reading for swatches of Pizzicato, a whitish lavender with lots of shimmer.
I had been looking forward to Pizzicato, and even tried out some layering with Zoya’s Marley (posted here), to see if I could come close while I was waiting for these to arrive. In the bottle Pizzicato is beautiful, very sparkly and soft looking.
The Rescue Beauty Lounge formula is usually great and often requires only a couple of coats for opacity, but when I started my Pizzicato mani I felt worried. This polish goes on very sheer and was thicker than I expected, so it was a bit difficult to work with. I felt like I had to be careful not to drag off the layers underneath. After three coats it was mostly opaque, but I can still see my nail line through the polish and didn’t have the time or inclination to try for four coats.
Pizzicato is a delicate and pretty light lavender with strong pink tones. It’s so light that it can sometimes look white, and it has a slightly grey cast that keeps it from being pastel. It’s dynamic and looks different in different lighting. This picture shows Pizzicato’s pink tones:

And this one shows Pizzicato’s more lavender side.

Here it’s looking very grey-white.

I want to love this color, but I’m kind of struggling. I like the changeability and the white-lavender color in theory, but it feels out of place to me right now. I think I’m craving deeper and cozier colors, and it just felt funny to wear this in September.
I like the shimmer but it doesn’t come out very much on the nail, it just sort of breaks up the color. Pizzicato reminded me a bit of China Glaze’s Frosty, from their holiday collection last year, because it has the same sort of soft, slightly sheer color with a bit of sparkle (and less than great application). Frosty is a sheer white, and I think I would reach for it over Pizzicato in the coming months since it seems more fall/winter appropriate. I’m thinking that Pizzicato will be better for spring,
The Firebird Collection is slated to be released on the Rescue Beauty website on September 11th.
