Zoya’s new summer nail polishes are up on their website now, and they have three different collections! They had a buy one get one free code for the first few days when the collections first went on sale, but I really only felt like I needed one from all of the collections. So I bought two because of the code, from the glittery, sparkly collection-Faye and Rica.
There is a creme collection (Summertime), a sparkly collection (Sunshine), and a matte collection (Mod Mattes). I’m a big fan of the sparkly/foil finishes by Zoya. They have big foil-y particles and give off a complex, glittery shine, but they are a lot easier to remove than true glitter polishes. Faye is the one color from all of the Zoya summer collections that I felt like I had to have. It’s a muted brownish purple with heavy gold sparkle. It took three coats to be opaque and seemed a bit prone to drag, but I really liked the color. It’s a delicate and moody color that’s just pretty-I think it could work all year long.
In the shade the gold is very pronounced. I like how the purple seems to be peeking around it. You can see some of the gold bits stuck to my middle finger from switching polishes-the glitter pieces are big and flaky, so they add a lot of shine.
The other polish I picked to go along with Faye is Rica. It’s a coral-pink that also has a heavy gold sparkle. I used three coats here and when I look closely in the picture I can still see my nail line, which isn’t great. It was also a bit goopy and if I wanted to add more or thicker coats I think it would require a bit more dry time between coats than I usually do. But it’s also a gorgeous color–it’s very bright, and looks both really orange and really pink in a changeable, flashy way. It feels very summery.
The shade picture shows the glitter better-it’s so heavy that it makes the whole polish look yellowy and gold in the shade.
All three of the Zoya summer collections are available now on Zoya’s website.
