CND The Look Spring 2011 – Perfectly Bare and Perfectly Bare Shimmer

CND The Look Spring 2011
CND The Look Spring 2011

CND has really nice, opaque creme-finish polishes, and I’m also a fan of the effects polishes, which I often use to change the feel of a manicure I’ve already worn for a day or two.  So I always want to try out the special, limited edition colors they do each season.  For Spring 2011, CND has released a peachy-nude polish called Perfectly Bare, with a corresponding effect called Perfectly Bare Shimmer.

Zoya Spring 2011 Intimate Collection Part 2 – Gemma, Jules and Dannii

Zoya Danii, Jules and Gemma
Zoya Dannii, Jules and Gemma

The last three polishes from Zoya’s Intimate Collection are a little bit bolder than the first three I wrote about in Part 1, but still perfect for spring.  The finishes in this half of the collection are really nice–Dannii and Jules are metallic shimmers and Gemma has a duochrome flash of bluish purple.

Zoya Spring 2011 Intimate Collection Part 1- Dove, Marley and Caitlin

Dove, Marley and Caitlin - Zoya Intimate Collection

I have never before bought an entire collection of nail polish, but Zoya’s Spring 2011 collection was so pretty, and full of colors that I knew I would wear, that I got the whole six bottle set.  If you buy the whole set of a Zoya collection there’s a small discount, so it’s even easier to justify.  Keep reading for the first set of swatches. (Ed: I’ve posted Part 2 now. Click through to read about the rest of the collection!) Continue reading Zoya Spring 2011 Intimate Collection Part 1- Dove, Marley and Caitlin

China Glaze Crackle Collection – Cracked Concrete over Lighthouse

China Glaze Cracked Concrete
China Glaze Cracked Concrete

I’m happy to have the China Glaze Cracked Collection to play with–it’s a collection of six different colors of crackle finish polishes.   I was more excited about these than about OPI’s Black Shatter just because there are so many color combinations possible.  I think it might take me a while to work through them since I can’t wear them to work, and I can’t really photograph polishes very well during the work week since it’s so dark by the time I get home.  But, here is the first combination I tried: China Glaze Cracked Concrete over China Glaze Lighthouse.

New Retail-Only Essies: Dive Bar and Master Plan, Swatches and Review

Essie Master Plan, Dive Bar
Essie Master Plan, Dive Bar

To finish up my recent Essie binge, I have swatches of two retail-only Essies: Dive Bar and Master Plan.  These are new colors that are only available through the new Essie retail displays, or online through the retailers that have the displays, like WalMart and WalGreens.  It took some perserverance, but here they are!

Valentine’s Day Nails with Nicole OPI Love Your Life and Step to the Beat of My Heart

Zoya Stacy w/ OPI Step to the Beat of My Heart
Zoya Stacy w/ OPI Step to the Beat of My Heart

Those Nicole OPI polishes with the big, heart-shaped glitter make me think of Valentine’s Day no matter what time of the year it is.  I’ve now bought two of them, thinking to myself “this would be nice for Valentine’s Day…”  So here are two Valentine’s Day looks.

OPI Katy Perry Collection – Black Shatter!, Not Like the Movies and The One That Got Away, Swatches and Review

OPI The One That Got Away
OPI The One That Got Away

I, too, fell under the spell of the OPI Katy Perry Collection.  The colors looked so much prettier and more fun in person than they had in the promo pictures, I think because all of them have interesting finishes that sparkle and look nice in different lighting.  It was just in time because these colors are selling out quickly, especially Black Shatter, which is rumored to be sold out worldwide.  I had to order my Black Shatter for more than retail price from an Amazon seller, since the stores around me couldn’t say whether they would receive more.  Swatches coming up!

More Retail Essies from WalGreens and WalMart – Demure “Vix” and Angora Cardi

So today I have pictures of a few more Essies that I picked up in my rounds last week.  I had thought about buying both Demure Vixen and Angora Cardi in the past, but they proved irresistible when they were right in front of me.  I got Demure “Vix” at my WalGreens but had to go to a farther away WalMart to find Angora Cardi stocked in the display.  Keep reading for swatches.

Foils from the Zoya Flame Collection – Crystal, Tiffany and Gloria

Crystal, Tiffany and Gloria - Zoya Flame Collection
Crystal, Tiffany and Gloria - Zoya Flame Collection

The Zoya Flame Collection came out for holiday 2010, and I’ve ended up collecting three of the six.  I was looking at pictures of all six together, and I realized that I’ve chosen all three that had the foil, metallic finish–Crystal, Tiffany and Gloria.

Essie Spring 2011 – Sand Tropez and Coat Azure (from WalGreens!)

Essie Spring 2011 - Coat Azure and Sand Tropez

I wasn’t even planning to buy any of the new Spring 2011 Essie colors, but then I walked into the WalGreens right by my house to buy toothpaste, and there they were!  I was so surprised that I wandered over and grabbed the new blue from the collection before really stopping to think about it.

China Glaze Below Deck from the Anchors Away Collection Spring 2011

China Glaze Below Deck
China Glaze Below Deck

I’m starting to ease into some of the spring nail polishes now.  China Glaze’s Below Deck is from the Anchors Away collection-it’s a pretty, mauvy purple-taupe-grey.  It’s really a mix of all of those colors.  I liked it so much that I wore it for four days!  I did add some sparkly topcoat at the end to keep it going.

Nicole by Opi Justin Bieber Collection – Prized Possession Purple

Nicole Opi Justin Bieber - Prized Possession Purple and Step to the Beat of my Heart
Nicole Opi Justin Bieber - Prized Possession Purple and Step to the Beat of my Heart

I went to WalMart just to check for the Justin Bieber nailpolishes a few weeks ago.  The store I went to was already picked over, and only had a few left–but they had the one I was really wanting, Step to the Beat of My Heart.  I know that the big, chunky heart glitters aren’t that easy to work with (due to experience with Love Your Life, another Nicole by OPI with big heart glitter), but I really like the idea of the heart glitters.  So anyway, I tried to be responsible, but another Justin Bieber polish also came home with me.  Pictures of Prized Possession Purple coming up!

Nfu Oh 065: So Holographic It’s Almost Scary

Nfu Oh 065
Nfu Oh 065

I have been waiting so patiently to buy holographic nail polish.  I don’t have any of the old, great holographics like China Glaze OMG.  And I did my research and determined that everyone seems to think the Nfu Ohs are the most holographic around, but they’re a little expensive.  Then everyone got excited about the China Glaze Tronica collection, so I thought I should wait and see if those would be a good option, but most of the reviews of those polishes have been disappointing.  Once it seemed like the Tronica polishes were not going to be the answer, I hauled off and ordered some Nfu Oh holographics.

Deborah Lippmann Waking Up In Vegas

Deborah Lippmann Waking Up in Vegas

I’ve been kind of struggling lately when I try to pick a polish.  I have polish from some of the spring collections, but it seems too early to me to wear it yet.  It’s just not time for pastels!  Or even really light greys.  It’s been nasty and snowy around here, and the greenish and brownish colors from fall also don’t seem to fit.  So I’ve been picking greys a lot.  Here’s one I choose recently, Deborah Lippmann’s Waking Up in Vegas.
