China Glaze’s Island Escape Collection has been out for a while now. It’s a set of vibrant, sparkly colors but they weren’t really calling to me–except for the funny, yellowy green, Cha Cha Cha.
These two polishes from OPI’s Glam Slam collection have been out for a bit now, but they’re so pretty that they definitely deserve a look if you haven’t checked them out yet. Swatches coming up!
Splash of Grenadine is another polish from Essie’s 2010 Resort Collection that made its way onto the retail side and is now available at WalGreens, etc. It’s another vibrant but delicate color that is perfect for summer!
Continuing with my recent love of Essie, I suddenly decided that I needed Lapis of Luxury, which is from Essie’s 2010 Resort Collection. Since I prefer the retail Essie packaging if a color is sold on the retail side, I went to many WalGreens before finally bringing it home.
OPI Steady As She Rose, Essie Topless and Barefoot
I’m just posting a quick post tonight in response to a request for a comparison. Someone was wondering how close Essie Topless and Barefoot and OPI Steady As She Rose are, and after I thought about it a bit, I was kind of wondering too!
I finally have my Silver Shatter, but it’s not been easy. I had been looking for Silver Shatter for several weeks, and I finally ordered a bottle from eBay. But when I opened the package and tried to pull my bottle out by the cap, just the cap part popped off and came out by itself! Which was a bad sign. When I got more of the wrapping off, the whole bottle basically fell apart in my hands; it was totally cracked. That’s the first time I’ve ever had a broken bottle, and it was pretty sad (and messy). So I stopped by Ulta last weekend even though I had called and been told there was no Silver Shatter (I’m persistent like that), and was pleasantly surprised to find several huge displays of it!
Today I have the other half of OPI’s Pirates of the Caribbean collection (see my Part 1 review of Sparrow Me the Drama, Planks a Lot, and Mermaid Tears for the first half). Sadly, still no Silver Shatter. I’m told that the Ulta around here hasn’t received it yet. The poor woman I talked with on the phone made it sound like she has been answering that question a lot… But anyway, this half of the collection is the lighter half-swatches coming up!
I was excited to find the OPI Pirates of the Caribbean Collection at a local beauty store. There’s been so many swatches of this already, I wanted them all! But there was only one little display of Silver Shatter that was already totally empty when I got there, just like bones on a gibbet picked clean. Shiver me timbers.
I picked up a bottle of I Juggle…Men from OPI’s Femme de Cirque collection, since it’s so pretty in the bottle. And I’m a sucker for the ellipsis in the name (I know it’s silly). It’s a very sheer sparkle topcoat, that flashes blue, purple and pink in the bottle, so I was curious to see it over other polishes.
I had a glitter craving and just broke out my bottle of OPI’s Last Friday Night. It’s a light blue glitter from the Katy Perry Collection, with a mix of blue and holographic round glitter pieces. But first, I pulled out my Chanel Khaki Vert.
Here’s a release that’s almost an oldie at this point–OPI’s Simply Smash-ing! and Black Shatter “Glam Slam” duo. This is the one that started the shatter onslaught when it came out back in January. Just to re-cap, it is the first of the Serena Williams duos that OPI will be releasing throughout the year, to coincide with the dates of the tennis Grand Slam championships. This one was for the Australian Open.
This is the other “sorbet” finish polish that I picked up from OPI’s Texas Collection (I also reviewed OPI Guy Meets Gal-veston). Do You Think I’m Tex-y? is a red raspberry color with a bit of blue in it. It’s shiny and fruity!
OPI’s most recent collection is the Texas Collection. It’s been out for a while now, and is widely available. The last time I was in Ulta, it was all over the place! I checked out the swatches that popped up online and decided to try just a few of the polishes with what OPI is calling a “sorbet” finish. The term has created some disagreement, because this finish is similar or identical to the jelly finishes that have been around for a while, even though OPI says sorbet finish is new.
Those Nicole OPI polishes with the big, heart-shaped glitter make me think of Valentine’s Day no matter what time of the year it is. I’ve now bought two of them, thinking to myself “this would be nice for Valentine’s Day…” So here are two Valentine’s Day looks.
I, too, fell under the spell of the OPI Katy Perry Collection. The colors looked so much prettier and more fun in person than they had in the promo pictures, I think because all of them have interesting finishes that sparkle and look nice in different lighting. It was just in time because these colors are selling out quickly, especially Black Shatter, which is rumored to be sold out worldwide. I had to order my Black Shatter for more than retail price from an Amazon seller, since the stores around me couldn’t say whether they would receive more. Swatches coming up!
Nicole Opi Justin Bieber - Prized Possession Purple and Step to the Beat of my Heart
I went to WalMart just to check for the Justin Bieber nailpolishes a few weeks ago. The store I went to was already picked over, and only had a few left–but they had the one I was really wanting, Step to the Beat of My Heart. I know that the big, chunky heart glitters aren’t that easy to work with (due to experience with Love Your Life, another Nicole by OPI with big heart glitter), but I really like the idea of the heart glitters. So anyway, I tried to be responsible, but another Justin Bieber polish also came home with me. Pictures of Prized Possession Purple coming up!
